Over the past two years, 10 partners from across Europe have come together to develop a course on Nature Benefits / Ecosystem Services, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of practitioners, nature conservationists, site managers, and communicators in this vital field.

Together, we have developed, organized, and delivered five TUNE IT (Nature Benefits: From Theory to Practice) courses. More than 180 experts have been trained by over 40 trainers and lecturers. Additionally, 66 organizations were involved, contributing by sending participants, supporting the course organization, and aiding in content development.

The outcomes of this project can be summarized as follows:

  • Handbook & Practitioners Brief
  • Videos
  • Online shared platforms for information and documentation
  • New working groups, new departments
  • Action plans to implement these concepts into daily work
  • Guided tours for the public
  • Management planning
  • Short info sessions/workshops within organizations

We’ve amplified the impact by achieving the following outputs:

  • Sharing and assimilating knowledge
  • Developing and improving skills
  • Spreading lessons learned and know-how
  • Scaling up results
  • Identifying new project opportunities
  • Facilitating networking
  • Engaging other departments within organizations
  • Inspiring local communities
  • Promoting results beyond the project deadline

Through education, engagement, and action, we have successfully met our goals. While the official project deadline is today, February 28, 2025, the work initiated during this project will continue through all those engaged.

We would like to extend a special thank you to our partners in Ukraine. Despite the ongoing war in their country, they have remained dedicated to the project, developed TUNE IT in Ukraine, and will continue to promote the principles of Nature Benefits.

“Even though the maximum efforts of Ukrainians today are aimed at survival, we would like to emphasize that environmental protection remains relevant, even during such challenging times. Amidst the horrific destruction of natural assets in the war zone, Ukrainians strive to preserve those that are relatively safe and far from conflict. They especially value the aesthetic beauty and mental health benefits of wilderness, which help many reduce stress,” emphasized PhD Bohdan Prots, Director of the Danube Carpathian-Programme Ukraine.
