Professionals in the fields of site (and project) management, nature restoration and conservation, as well as communication will participate in the Erasmus+ course ‘Nature Benefits from Theory to Practice (TUNE IT)’. The first part of the course will take placefrom January 30 th to February 1 st , 2024, in Wageningen University and Research (Wageningen, The Netherlands).

The course aims to provide the participants with the necessary skills to better understand and promote the nature benefits, i.e. the social and economic value of restoring, conserving, and sustainably managing natural areas. At a time when biodiversity is dramatically threatened by human activity and climate change poses more risks than our society can successfully manage, this course provides the
knowledge necessary to promote, plan, manage and attract additional financial means to ensure the sustainable provision of the nature benefits for the common good. Skills gained will also further enable the attendees to implement ecosystem-based adaptation and
mitigation measures in relation to climate change.

Ten organizations from five countries across Europe and two international Non-Governmental Organisations have joined forces, and the cross-cutting expertise, to develop this tailored course:

  • Natuurpunt Beheer (Belgium),
  • Natuurpunt Natuuracademie (Belgium),
  • Wageningen University and Research (The Netherlands),
  • Stichting IVN (The Netherlands),
  • Natuurmonumenten (The Netherlands),
  • Geonatura Ltd Consultancy in Nature Protection (Croatia),
  • Doga Koruma Merkezi Vakfi (Turkey),
  • the Danube-Carpathian Programme (Ukraine),
  • Eurosite – the European Land Conservation Network (international),
  • Ecosystem Services Partnership (international).

Twenty-eight participants from eleven European countries will tune in together over three days to go deeper into these issues. The course is organised with the financial support of the Earsmus+ Programme of the European Union, in three learning modules, and will be
finalized on June 6th, 2024.

Stay tuned!
